John Asaro

John Asaro was born in San Diego, California on February 28, 1937. He was motivated by Milford Ellison, a watercolor instructor, and inspired by the works of Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet, Sargent, Sorolla, Matisse and Bonnard. He studied with Donal Hord, San Diego, (1952-1955); the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California (1955-1957, 1959); with Frank Reilly at the Art Students League, New York City (1958-1959); and architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Santa Monica, California.

Ask any contemporary artist today which of their fellow artists they respect and admire most and inevitably, John Asaro will be on that list. His painting technique is studied and admired by many of today's top artists. One of the few contemporary "Fine Art" painters and regarded "Best in America", John's paintings are in great demand by major galleries and museums. This is a testament to the level of his extraordinary talent. John is known as a brilliant colorist, sophisticated in style and honest in presentation. His paintings require the viewer to stop, look and respond on an emotional level.

The depth of emotion that John is able to infuse into his brush strokes is unparalleled. He pushes the saturation of colors he sees in life to a more satisfying and exciting level. The paint itself becomes as beautiful as the subjects. Each canvas is begun with a technical proficiency and then finished with truthful sensitivity and innovation, independence and romantic vision. His work conveys the man, the artist as passionate and aggressive with a gentle, controlled nature, an interesting and complex individual.
