We employ only the finest museum quality materials necessary to frame and display your artwork. The matboards meet the most stringent standards for permanence and stability. Our hinging materials meet requirements for expansion and contraction yet remain strong enough to support the artwork. The adhesives are easily removed leaving your artwork in its original condition.
After your artwork is matted and framed, it is ready to be displayed. There are critical guidelines to be considered, however, that will contribute greatly to the longevity of the artwork:
Artwork should not be hung in direct sunlight. Ultraviolet rays will ravage paper in a short time causing fading and embrittlement. Even bright, indirect sunlight can contribute to the degredation of artwork. If it is anticipated that your artwork will be placed in either of these situations, there are different Ultraviolet filtering glazing options available.
Many times paper borne artwork will ripple or cockle beneath the matting. This is a direct reaction to high relative humidity. Ideal relative humidity is approxamately 40-60 percent. If your artwork does ripple, it most likely will flatten as the humidity decreases. Many times, work hung on exterior walls will ripple, but rehanging to an interior wall will cure the problem due to less humidity transferred. Also, air conditioning and heating fluctuations can contribute to paper movement.
Because new technologies in art conservation are developed every year, we endeavor to employ the latest procedures. We constantly experiment and evaluate new products introduced to the market. If you have a specific problem with your artwork, please contact us and we will strive to find a solution.
