Sergei Yatsenko was born May 21, 1958 in the Ukraine. He received his
first lessons in art from his father, an amateur artist. Later, the
family moved to Estonia, and at the age of eleven, Sergei was accepted
into the Estonia School for Talented Children where he started his
formal education in the arts. His art education continued at the
Estonian Institute of Fine Art in Tallin, graduating in 1983.From 1983 to 1989, he worked as an art designer and commercial artist. During this period, he exhibited his paintings in several galleries throughout Estonia and Finland. Since immigrating to the United States in 1990, he has continued to work with his favorite media: oil and pastel. Sergei's talent is shown through his excellence in diverse subject matter such as portraiture, seascapes, landscapes, still lifes and experimentation with new presentations of traditional Russian icons.
Sergei Yatsenko's paintings can be found in private collections in Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy and The United States.
